In case you haven't been able to locate it, if you punch up the following coordinates in Google Earth:
41°33'28.55"N by 75°10'59.29"W
It will put you pretty much spot-on the flagpole at the camp!
The pool looks like its been empty for a while and the pond is a little overgrown but the structures look pretty intact and you can just make out the kart track in the woods.

So I think about this every year at this time. This weekend would be the weekend CIT's, Jr. Counselors, and Counselors would report to Skycrest. This is the weekend the Rec Hall would get opened up after a long winter of being closed up, and we would pull the basket ball nets, canoes, kayaks, three wheelers, and much more of the outdoor gear out of the building to be put in it's place for the following Saturday's arrival of campers at Skycrest.

I think my happiest memory of Camp Skycrest was organizing and conducting the Perseid metepor shower in August of 1967. I do hope that the campers enjoyed it as much as I did. We had to postpone it several times due to clouds but we finally had it.

Today would have been the Camp's annual visit to the County Fair and to celebrate I am now sitting in a shopping centre outside of Bristol. In the foreground is a children's Fairground with an appropriate roundabout and I am sitting having a sliced beef sandwich with gherkins and roasted peppers on rye, accompanied with chipped potatoes and washed down with .......... That is the nearest that I can get to the fun and thrills of the County Fair this year!

How many readers can remember sitting out at night on either the upper or lower hill looking north over Honesdale for the shooting stars/meteorites?
Certainly amongst our number is a Unversally known Astronomer and without wishing to tred on David Levy's toes, or indeed upon those of Rob Friedman, the night sky this week ought to bring back many memories for Skycrest Campers.
Situated high in the Pocono Mountains, Skycrest had the ideal vantage point for watching these…
